It came into actuality on 14th April 1951 by combining the three railways they are Madras Railway and Southern Mahratta Railway, South Indian Railway, Mysore state Railway. The Southern Railways consists of six divisions of Chennai. Tiruchirapalli, Madurai, Palghat, Trivandrum, Salem. The Southern Railways provides various employments to different posts.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- A President Scout / Guide / Rover or Himalayan Wood Badge Holder in any section
- Active member of a Scouts organization for the last 5 years.
- Should have attended two events at National Level or All Indian Railway's level and two events at State Level
Age Limit
Level-2 Posts
- UR: 18 to 30 years
- OBC: 18 to 33 years
- SC/ST: 18 to 35 years
Level-1 Posts
- UR: 18 to 33 years
- OBC: 18 to 36 years
- SC/ST: 18 to 38 years
Pay Scale
- Level - 2:
- Level - 1
Examination Fee
- For General and OBC Candidates: Rs 500/-
- For SC / ST / Women / Ex-Servicemen / Persons with Disabilities / Female / Transgender / candidates belonging to Minority / Economically backward class: Rs 250/-
Selection Process
- Written Test: 60 Marks
- Marks on Certificates: 40 Marks
